Academic Intervention Services
Academic Intervention Services (AIS): AIS provides support services for students who struggle academically in learning math or learning to read. Our team of reading and math specialists provide ‘push in’ service to general education, dual language, and some gifted classes during reading and math to offer small group instruction. The team draws upon ECLAS-2, running records, diagnostic math, and standardized test assessment data to identify students who could benefit from participation in the AIS program. Teachers may elect to refer to the Academic Intervention Services and Pupil Personnel Team any student who they believe to be experiencing academic struggle. Team members consider making a referral for services and the development of an educational plan. Our reading and math specialists reevaluate AIS students periodically throughout the year to readjust goals and determine whether each such student continues to require AIS services.
